LOS ANGELES ABRASION TEST (AASHTO T-96)

LOS ANGELES ABRASION TEST (AASHTO T-96)

Los Angeles abrasion test is used to determine the relative quality of aggregates used in the construction industry. The aggregate sample is subjected to an abrasive charge of steel balls in the Los Angeles abrasion testing machine. The Los of aggregate material obtained by the difference in weight after sieve analysis is expressed in percentage.

This test is used for the abrasion value of small-sized coarse aggregates with a maximum size smaller than 1 ½ inch. For the percentage value of aggregate Los due to degradation of large-sized coarse aggregate by impact abrasion, ASTM C-535 is widely applicable.
